Mike Chaney
Founder and Owner
Original founder, Mike Chaney can still be found in the shop helping customers find that perfect solution to their surfing needs. But more importantly, he still passionately seeks out perfect surf on a local and global level. Throw in a little heli-boarding in perfect powder and he just may be our longest pure "product tester".
Tom Brubaker
Manager
Tom started working at Central Coast Surfboards back in 1996, while still attending Cal Poly. He started at the bottom of the totum pole slinging surfboards, wetsuits, scrubbing toilets, whatever was needed! Once he had proven himself as a capable toilet scrubber, he took on the role of ding repair master. This was followed up by years of purchasing all of our surfboards, wetsuits and accessories, as well as a role as assitant manager under the tutiledge of a man known only as "The Hawk". Tom's current role as manager seems to be one he was born to fill. He learned how to skateboard as a kid with the older guard in the neighborhood at a 9 foot vert ramp known only as "lizard land"...Skating eventually led him to surfing, where he stood up on his first wave at 13 and never looked back! Here we are now, a long way from 13 years old, and Tom has traveled the world, shaped quite a few of his own surfboards (he stopped counting at 75), still has a quiver of skateboards to ride, and the guy still comes to work smiling everyday?!! Like we said, he was born to fill this role. We're beginning to think he knows something we don't........
